“People are hungry for this teaching.”
Penninah shared these words with us while a Loom team visited Uganda last week. While there, we gathered with some Celebrating Children Seminar Facilitators to hear how it is going, and what we can learn from as we prepare for a training in Uganda next Spring.
Penninah, Jane Brenda, Sypora, and Irene all shared with us that they received many more requests for Seminars than they had the time or resources to answer. “You get calls every week,” said Penninah. “But you cannot stretch yourself so thin, you cannot say yes to them all.” Besides adequate funding, all four expressed the need for more trainers who can respond to this enormous volume of requests – some of which are in very remote areas.
This is one of the reasons why Loom will be running a CCW in Uganda in 2023, in conjunction with CCS Facilitators. The two week training, which will cover Part One of the CCW material, will be held near Jinja, Uganda and incorporate the expertise of many new CCW Facilitators who have been trained in the past five years. Our goal is to see many new facilitators come out of this training from across East Africa, including French-speaking countries.
