50km from the small town of Engatani, a village called Engusero is home to just over one thousand Maasai.

Two grandmothers, Anna and Paulina, saw the need for a school in their community.

Eventually thier pleas were heard by Philip, a Social Innovator working in this area of Tanzania.

He saw how children were asked to walk over 12km to school each day – which means many never received an education.

In October 2019, we were privileged to attend the opening of the first-ever school in Engusero!

Many churches, investors, and partners came together to make it possible.

In January 2020, the school opened its first classroom to 50 preschool students.

Their dedicated teacher has given up much to live and teach in this remote location.

Water tanks are also providing the first source of fresh drinking water at the school.

The first tap!

This March, playground equipment was also installed for the kids.

Anna and Paulina are thrilled to see the children of their community have the opportunity of education. But they aren’t stopping here!

They have risen up as leaders of their community, and they will continue to work towards sustainable change together.
