In October 2012 the Celebrating Children Workshop team from Loom International arrived in Johannesburg anticipating seeing a group of participants with whom we had become old friends. We had met these 35 Methodist Church volunteers in April of 2012 during Part One of the CCW. Many of them had other jobs and careers but used much of their off-work hours working with children in their community and churches.
We were inspired by their dedication and willingness to contribute new ideas and exciting plans for listening to children and changing the way their communities think about children. The exciting part is that because we trained them to be trainers, they turned it around and multiplied the impact and a total of 1,200 practitioners went through the training. These 1,200 impact the lives of a total of 20,000 children. This is what measurable change looks like.
