In Kirehe district, Rwanda, Local Experts are working with refugees from Burundi who fled there due to political violence. The total number of Burundian refugees in Rwanda is 88,500, many of whom suffer from HIV/AIDS. Children comprise 47 percent of the refugees and have no access to safe places or education.
When hearing about the need in Kirehe, Local Experts Mary and Method Kamanzi began a Kids Clubs for the children and home visits for the struggling families. Another Local Expert, Celestine, began an informal preschool which caught the attention of the local government officials who donated land to establish a permanent school building and center of ministry in Kirehe.
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- For the funds to be raised to build a school and ministry center.
- For those living in the refugee camps to find hope and understand the love of Christ.
- For vulnerable children and families to be protected and supported.
